One of the things we love about Albuquerque

One of the things we love about Albuquerque is the weather. Winter in ABQ is beautiful with most days being nice enough to only wear a light jacket (assuming the sun is shining which it normally is). With the Sandia Mountains next to us it allows for snow on the top and backside of the mountain with dry/warm weather in the city. So this past weekend we decided to go sledding and take advantage of the great runs only 45 minutes from us.

The day turned out to be beautiful and we had a great time sledding. Eli came up with the idea of sledding on a piece of cardboard and insisted on using it the whole time to great success.

No surprise here, but Eva was a bit of a daredevil. She had no problem going down the hill. After watching the snowboarding in the Olympics I think we see a future career for Eva with her thrill seeking nature and ability to handle some pretty rough falls.

Of course daddy had to give it a try and ended up finding the only rock out there. Thankfully Eva was there to help me up (and Jamie to laugh and document it).

And to illustrate the change in weather from the back of the mountain to the ABQ side here's a shot of me going running that same afternoon in a t-shirt and shorts.

30 Weeks

30 weeks pregnant with twins!
Wow, 30 weeks!  It feels like a big milestone... The boys are each measuring around 3 pounds, so that's at least 6 pounds of baby in my belly!  I am starting to feel it, too.  Let's just say, I'm far from comfortable.  At this point, each week we reach, we celebrate. It means the babies will be that much more healthy and good-sized when they are born.

Both kids are very excited about the approaching birth of their baby brothers.  In fact, they announce it to every cashier, waitress and stranger we meet!  Both of them are convinced that my belly button is sort of a portal through which they can communicate with their brothers.  They regularly ask to lift up my shirt and shout to the brothers.  Eva often yells "Baby bruddas! Come out NOW!"  She's sure she can hear them crying, and will tell them "It's OK!"  Elijah comes over and gives my belly 2 kisses, one for each of the brothers, he tells me.

Eva says...

Eva is talking more and more every day! We want to remember some of the cute things she says...
1. Tanku, bruddah!  She calls Elijah "Brother" and we love it! Eva also says Thank you all the time in a sweet little voice. "Tanku, Mommy! Tanku, Daddy!"
2. "Yay, me!" If she does something she is proud of, she cheers this and claps.
3. "Me help!!" Eva LOVES to help... making coffee or tea, stirring dinner, measuring flour... She will then announce, "I help my Mommy!"
4. "I go my Daddy." Eva loves a ride in the car. It's one of the few times she gets her paci! We tell her it's time to go for a ride, or go to bed and she cheers "Yay, my paci!!" She is always up for a trip in the car.
And in case you are wondering about the moustache, we went to a Mozzarella and Moustaches birthday pizza party. Eva happily wore the moustache, though Elijah opted out. :)

One Baby vs Two Babies

Time for a little comparison...
Here I am 27 weeks pregnant with two babies.  Note my maternity shirt no longer fits me.
The Last Belly Shot: 1 baby.  Here I am 1 week before delivering Elijah.
I'm about the same size, aren't I? Maybe a little smaller here...

Here I am in labor with Elijah, just about an hour before we leave for the hospital.  It is Elijah's due date, 40 weeks pregnant, and at a surprise baby shower our RA's put on for us.  Great expression, huh?  To my credit, it's because I'm managing contractions while trying not to let on how much in pain I am!

Note the shirt I'm wearing?!  It was the most comfortable, loose maternity shirt I had... And I have now outgrown it!
