Albuquerque Marathon

This past October Matt and Corrie came to Albuquerque to run the ABQ half and full Marathon. We had the privilege of watching baby Faith while they were cranking out the miles. We were so impressed and proud of Matt and Corey for running it.

We had so much fun going from station to station to cheer them on (with a donut shop along the way).

And yum, yum I am full!

Adventures await! The balance bikes are a little too big for them, but the boys love walking them around!

Awana Grand Prix 2016

Every year we participate in the Awana Grand Prix. This year both kids wanted to do a Star Wars themed car. Unfortunately though when we went looking at space ships or scooters they wouldn't lend nicely to a racing car. So we started googling space planes and pictures of satellites. We ended up with Elijah picking the Hubble Space Telescope and Eva picking the Air Force's X-37B Space Plane.

We only do cars for Eli and Eva as my requirement is they have to do a significant part of the work on the car so Peter and Joseph aren't there yet. The only part I'll do is drill the holes for the wheels. Unfortunately I didn't get Eli's wheels just right so although he won a heat and came in second and third he didn't place.

Eva's car did really well and was pretty fast. Unfortunately she races in the open against all the older kids and parents and they only do the fastest car in that group.

Peter and Joseph loved watching the car races and eating donuts while cheering on their brother and sister.

Elijah ended up winning best novel design for his Hubble telescope.

Next year we may be doing four cars though as it Peter and Joseph definitely knew what was happening and wondered when it was their turn.

Thanksgiving 2016

We had the privilege of having Hank, Johanna, and family join us here in Albuquerque for Thanksgiving. We started the time together with a hike in the foothills of the Sandias. It was a beautiful day for a hike and we all enjoyed doing some bouldering.

We all enjoyed hanging out, playing games, and reading.

On Thanksgiving morning we all participated in a local 5k Turkey Trek at the Balloon Museum and met up with our friends for the trek as well. Eli and Eva ran the 1k and the rest of us ran the 5k. It was a lot of fun a great way to burn some calories prior to our Thanksgiving day feast.

We came back from the trek to a house smelling of turkey and yummy flavors and all of us were pretty hungry.

We finished the time off with lots more Lego playing, games, reading, going to the balloon museum, and going to a Handal's Messiah Sing Along and getting dinner at a Route 66 diner. It was a wonderful time with family and lots of great discussions. We are so thankful for so many blessings and of course for the family we weren't able to see as well this Thanksgiving.
