Paddle Boarding

Jamie has fallen in love with stand up paddle boarding! During a trip to CA last year she experienced the activity and loved it immediately. On our recent trip to Hawaii she did it a number of times and was hoping to keep up the activity back in ABQ... though water is a bit harder to come by in the desert of New Mexico. Thankfully we have a reservoir an hour away, and a spot on base that rents paddleboards, so that made for some fine paddle boarding. We decided to take the trailer up as a test drive.

Jamie was the first to take it out on the calm waters of the lake. It was beautiful and she went deep into the canyon of the lake.

Eva took it out next and although it took here a bit to get going she did a great job staying up and learning to paddle on her own.

She was very determined to "do it on my own" (sounds like an aunt of hers I know). :)

While folks were out on the paddle board, we had a great time fishing, exploring the shore, and building our own little pond in a nearby gully.

Elijah was a natural. When he jumped on the board he figured out the balance and motion of paddling in 10 seconds. It was as if he had been on a board all his life. He loved going up and down the shore line and could have spent hours on it without getting tired.

He even took Eva out for a while and neither of them fell into the water.
